California is home to approximately 1.5 million veterans, representing about 33% of the nation’s homeless veteran population. More than 50% of Long Beach veterans do not access care through the VA. These statistics underscore the urgent need for comprehensive support systems tailored to veterans unique experiences and challenges.
At the Long Beach Area Veterans Collaborative (LBAVC), we strive to bridge these gaps by empowering veteran-serving organizations with trained volunteers, business tools, and coordination resources.

Veterans in our community face isolation, housing insecurity, and unmet mental health needs. In 2024, the suicide rate among veterans was nearly double that of non-veterans (31.6 vs. 18.0 per 100,000 — deploymentpsych.org).
